Scottish Breast Screening Programme

Grange Medical Group

Scottish Breast Screening Programme (South East Scotland Division)

The Scottish Breast Screening Programme aims to screen by mammography (breast x-ray) all women in the 50 - 70 years age range every 3 years.  Each Medical Practice will be allocated one period for their patients to be called for screening.  Our last screening took place in 2012, our next will be due in 2015.

Some women may find they are not called for their first screening until their 52nd or 53rd birthday.  This is to be expected as they were either under 50 years of age at our last screening date, or not registered with the Practice at our last screening date.  If a women missed out on our last screening, it is not usual practice to refer for screening unless her GP is concerned.
